A Call to Worship
Palm Sunday Year C 2010
Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29

All people come, and let us praise God’s holy name,
We join together in that song of praise to the Lord our God.

The light of God’s presence illuminates and brightens our life.
We respond to God’s presence in worship of God’s holy name.

We join together in the ancient song of praise, as we come to
Worship and bow down before the God of all people and all ages.
With the ancient Psalmist and all God’s people, we sing together
“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD.” Amen.

Prayers of Thankfulness and Praise
Palm Sunday Year C 2010
Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29

All creation sings in praise of the Lord our God.
We joyfully join with others to sing songs of praise to God.
The generosity of God’s love offered to all creation is amazing,
and we respond to that love with praise, thankfulness and joy.
We come together to praise and bless God’s holy name.

We all want to join in the long procession which praises God,
as this joyful procession of praise to God weaves its way
-through the busyness of people’s lives and their relationships;
-through the bustle of commercial and industrial activities;
-through the places of anger, conflict and negotiations;
-through entertaining and competitive social events;
-and through the communal and personal acts of worship.
We come together to praise and bless God’s name in all of life

This procession of praise to God encompasses all of life,
and in gratitude to God for these special blessings, we
celebrate our communal life as we praise the Lord our God.
This day - your gift to us all, gives us delight as we marvel
at God’s generosity; and the beauty and wonder of all creation.
We come together to praise and bless God’s joy-filled name.

We join in the song of praise offering our thanks to God for
answered prayers. God’s merciful forgiveness is beyond our
hopes or imagination. The radiance of your presence lights up
our life and our worship. We praise you in our living, in our worship,
in our relationships, until the end of our long journey home to God.
With all the multitudes in heaven and on earth, with all creation
and it creatures, we join in the ancient song of praise to God:
“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD.” Amen.

A Personal Meditation
Palm Sunday Year C 2010
Psalm 118: 1-2, 19-29

I joyfully join with others long in singing praises to the Lord
our God! The generosity of God’s love for me, for all creation,
is amazing, and I respond with praise and thankfulness.

Creative pause: I join in the chorus praising God’s loving name.

This procession in praise of God weaves its way amongst all aspect
of human life and endeavour; our working and employed life; our social
and communal life; our relationships of intimacy and friendship; the times
of conflict, pain and negotiation; our recreational and relaxing times; and
our personal devotion and communal worship of the Lord God of all things.
This procession of praise to God encompasses all of life, and in gratitude
to God for these blessings, it is my joy to praise to our God, as I
participate in all the involvements and pleasure of these activities.

Creative pause: I join in the chorus praising God’s glorious name.

I offer praise to God for answered prayers; for the gracious sharing of the
earth’s resources; for the merciful privilege of placing my responses to God
on the alter of God’s presence; and above all and despite my sinfulness, God’s
mercy is beyond my fear-filled expectations, my imagination or my hopes.

Creative pause: I join in the chorus praising God’s merciful name.

“The stone rejected by the builders has now become the cornerstone…”
O my God, I seek your merciful forgiveness for my rejection of you and your
path to fullness of life, that is found only in the fellowship of worship of God.
I give thank to the Lord my God, whose faithful love endures forever!

Creative pause: I join in the chorus praising God’s forgiving name.

This day gives me delight and joy as I marvel at the beauty of all creation.
With all the multitudes in heaven and on earth I join in the ancient song of praise:
“Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the LORD.”

Creative pause: I join in the chorus praising God’s joy-filled name.
